I finally ran across you on a notice of linkage on Hyde County, NC page, and its
link to the Brickhouse family page. My Berry tradition is that the Berrys landed
in Accomack County in the 1700s, then scattered; mine line went to Hyde County,
NC. I have 3 lilnes I think landed on the shore - BENSON, MASSEY, and
BERRY. I have a Joel BARTEE who was came to Hyde, then left without - so far -
a trace. Maybe from the VA shore also? Massey Benson was in Hyde 1790-1800
period, then disappears. I suspect he came from the Va. eastern shore and then
returned. Any help I will appreciate, and provide what I have to anyone
interested.

Fascinating resource. I am attempting to trace my maternal ancestry, the Bunting
family. Through someone else's efforts, I have them reaching Selbyville, Delaware
at the beginning of the 19th century. Rumor has it that an English sea captain,
arring in Accomack County, Virginia, is the first Bunting to arrive in America.
Supposedly, he is the beginning of the Bunting line on the Eastern Shore. Would
appreciate any help I could get to fill in the gap.

I'm searching for information on John and Dorothy Stone who, with their son

Looking for McGinnis of West Virginia and browsed your page. I am glad I
stopped greart site with lots of information. I will come back to it again. The

I'm just taking a break from Christmas preparations and found your site. I'll be
back after Christmas for a more thorough search. I'm tracing the following lines:
Carlisle, Coleman, Culver, Stanhope, Fegles, Watkins, Andrew. Are there other
sites similar to this one for other parts of the country?
While I have been doing genealogy for quite a while, I'm new to searching for info

This is my first visit to this site. I have genealogy info on one Stengle family. I
think this project is great and I shall return. Two other Web sites should help.

Your web page seems to be detailed and concise.....I can see that I will be spending

I am a native of the Eastern Shore. I was born and raised just outside of Exmore.
I am now living just outside of Richmond. My wife and I are trying to
trace our family tree. We were looking for some genealogy information
on the internet and stumbled across this site. We will look around and
see what we can find.
I am looking for any information or leads concerning the families with the last
name Feddeman/Fittiman. I hit a dead end with the most recent spelling of my
last name. My grandfather James Fedderman was from Atlantic, Va. I can only
assume that is where my father Roger Lee Fiddermon, Sr. was born in Accommac,
Va. If anyone can help I would be grateful.
We are searching the early America's for all Gaither's, Green(e)'s and Maddox's.
The Gaither's and Maddox's were in early VA (1620). We will be more than happy
to share. Really enjoyed checking out your website. Keep up the good work.
I am interested in two families from the Eastern Shore of VA - both on my
mother's side. One is MOORE and the other is MILES.
I have information only as far back as my great grandfather, Laban Caleb Moore,
born in 1843 in Accomac County - town of Jenkins Bridge I believe. Any info
would be appreciated. Also, I don't really know what I'm doing - just started - so
any advice would be great! Thanks.

information regarding the Virginia State Navy 1776, Row Galley (vessel), and
Capt. George Elliott. This is the earliest record of my G-G-G grandfather's
presence in the colonies (My John Ewing). I'll visit frequently and look

Bill Wilkins referred me to this site, for which I thank him very much. This looks
like it will have a wealth of information on several families,
Your web page is great. Have some idea of the work since we are
trying to formulate one for our retirement community. Oh, yes, I'm
one of the 'transparent' ghotes - watching the listings and rarely,
if ever, corresponding.
In the 1704 Rent Roll for Northampton County, there are two Griffin
names listed. Jeremiah - 345 acres and Benja - 200 acres. Is
there any other information that might link either of these to
Samuel Griffin who purchased property on Duck Creek, Delaware in 1709?
Delaware is 'almost' part of the Eastern Shore.

Since I'm sort of new to the ESVA area and enjoy being here this is a great way to
learn more about the history. There is a small cemetery surrounded by my
property and I would like to know more about it. The names are Mary Jane
Savage, John Savage, Susan Savage/wife of Major Savage, and Major Savage. One
day I'll have time to go to the courthouse to get information. In the meantime, if
anyone has information about the family I'd enjoy reading it. Whatever I should
find out I'll relate to the GHOTES web site. I'm trying to clean up the cemetery
and make it park-like.
I am researching the Godwin (Goodwin) family that apparently came to
the Eastern Shore of Virginia sometime in the 1600's. My great-great-great
grandfather married a Charlotte Godwin at Salem, Virginia in the early
1800's. Charlotte Godwin was from the Eastern Shore line. Would
appreciate any info on the Godwins that others may have.

Am interested in any information in the Bellamy family. Only info I have is a
reference in Whitelaw to a land transaction by a John Bellamy in the late 1600's.
I am from the Eastern Shore and I found your information very interesting; often
when I tell folks where I grew up and of my experiences they are amazed to know
that such an area exists so close to Washington. I am going to tell others from the
Eatern Shore, who no longer live there, to check out your home page. KUDOS
This is my first attempt to use a Web site.
I am interested in the name Tyson that you have listed.
My Tyson ancestors came from the Eastern Shores of VA,
Interested in contacting others with this same line.
I've just stumbled upon your site but I'm looking forward to visiting often. My
early Virginia lines are Whitehead, Pace, Charlton, Watson and perhaps Loyless
and Carter.
I recently changed Email address, but I really like GHOTES. I have already made
several contacts through GHOTES.

Great site! Good to see someone taking the effort to show what the
Eastern Shore is all about. If you would like them (or anyone) I have
a few good pictures of the old Cobb Island Coast Gaurd stations. Moving of the
newer of the two
will soon be underway so future pictures won't exists of these Barrier Island
historic sites.
This is a great page!! In this area I am researching Copes, Briddell/Bredell/
Lambden/Townsend/Parker/Harmon/Mason/Hudson/Hancock/Redden/Glass/Jones. I
would love to talk with anyone about these lines.

I am very interested in Eastern Shore Genealogy. I published the Brickhouse
Family History in 1987 and have revised it in 1988, 1992 and 1995. The lasted
edition includes 10,000 descendants of George Brickhouse & Hannah Luddington
who married on the ES in 1661. Some connecting families: Watkins, Major,
Belote, and lots more.

I am working on the Parker family who originally came to the eastern shore in the
mid 1600s. They occupied property in VA, MD, and DL. Any assistance,
especially concerning the marriage of Samuel Parker to his first cousin, Polly
Parker about 1793 (Polly's father was John, who served in the Rev. in a unit from
DL,). Marriage likely took place in GA.
Great Page!!! Thanks for putting it out there... Hope I can connect with other
Anderson researchers... I've got a mystery on my hands about John Anderson and
a Talley family connection!

Also Roseberry's in eastern Kentucky about 1880's. My Grandfather was
born there and at the age of 8 living with a woman by the name of Beverly Lewis.
Any help as to who his parents are would be helpful. His name was James
Franklin Roseberry. One story goes that he may have had a brother named Jack
and a sister named Sara. He was born about 1885.
