Descendants of John Wood Nisbet: The Agathoin and Bull Lines

Dion George Agathoin was born in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario in 1856, the son of John Wood Nisbet and his wife Elizabeth. He came to the United States after his mother's death in 1873. All that I know about him during the next nine years is that 1)he was married and his wife died,and 2)he changed his name from George Wood Nisbet to Dion George Agathoin. He arrived in Hoffman's Wharf (present day Harborton), Virginia by Baltimore steamer in 1882.

Dion G. Agathoin married Ella Boggs Wise at the Methodist parsonage in Pungoteague in 1892. She was born in Hoffman's Wharf in 1871, the daughter of Benjamin Darby Wise and his wife, Louisa Sturgis. Benjamin D. Wise was a direct descendant of Colonel John Wise, the progenitor of the Eastern Shore Wise family.

Dion G. Agathoin died in Harborton in February 1920. Ella Wise Agathoin died in Harborton in 1962.

Ella Elizabeth ( Beth )was unmarried.

Winnie Catherine m1. Walter B. Ashby, Sr. about 1914 and m2. Franklin Monroe Hill in 1936. The children of Walter B. Ashby,Sr. and Winnie C. Agathoin, all born in Shields, VA., were:

Walter Byron Ashby. Jr., b. in Shields, VA in 1915, d. in Painter, VA. in ?
George Milton Ashby, b. in Shields, VA in 1917, d. in Virginia Beach, VA in 1991.

Charles Maurice Bull,b. in Keller, VA. in 1891, was a direct descendant of Tobias Bull I, the progenitor of the Bull family on the Eastern Shore. He was born in 1891 in Keller, VA, the son of Henry Lee Bull and his wife, Amanda Bundick. He d. in 1964 at his home in Harborton.

Charles Maurice Bull married Maude Louise Agathoin in Pungoteague, VA in 1916. Their children were:

Elwyn Maurice Bull, ghote, b. 1919
Meredith Louise Bull, b. 1924, d. 1997
Lester Irving Agathoin m. Mary Mapp of Eastville, VA in 1930. No issue.
George Lee Agathoin m. Carrie Parker of Wachapreague, VA in 1934. Their children were:
Mollie Kaye Agathoin, b. 1936 in Harborton
Diona Agathoin, b. 1939 in Harborton
