09/18/1827: William Core, age about 15 years, orphan of William Core, deceased, bound to Elijah Brittingham to learn to be shoe and bootmaker.
Pine View was the residence. It was on Rt. 13 on the sea side about two miles south of the Cape Charles turnoff. The house stood until 1992 when it was demolished for construction of Kiptopeke Elementary School. The family cemetary was just about 30 yards behind the site of the house. The monument in the cemetary was added by John H. Core, William's son. The cemetary has been refurbished at the expense of the direct descendents of William H. Core, Mrs. Marie Wootton, Mrs. Juliet Smith and Mr. William C. Duffy, Jr., who are the Great grandchildren of William H. Core.
Dedication of Kiptopeke Elementary School was held on Saturday morning, October 2nd, 1993 and Mrs. Wootton and Mrs. Smith were invited guests along with this writer, George William Core, who is a 2nd cousin, 3 generations removed of William H. Core.
I, James Caleb Core do hereby make this my last will and testament.
I leave to my neice Mollie A Core $12,000. To my neice Juliet Core Blanchard $5,000. To my neice Grace Core Pegues $5,000. To my nephew Christopher Walthal Core $5,000. To my nephew John Thomas Core $5,000. To my nephew Dr William Core Duffy $5,000. To my nephew John Core Duffy $5,000. To my great neice Marie Core Duffy $2,000.
