1850 U.S. Census for St. George Parish, Accomack Co, VA
(Households omitted in the transcribed version by Patricia Scherzinger, as published by Heritage Books, Inc., 1988)The following 25 households (HH#1194 thru HH#1120) are missing from the Accomack County, Virginia 1850 Census book, transcribed by Patricia Scherzinger, from Heritage Books, Inc., 1988. They should have been between page 116 and 117 in the transcription. Its obvious by looking at the household numbers in the book, since the bottom of page 116 ends with HH#1194 and the top of page 117 starts with HH#1220. For several years I thought they were misnumbered in the book. However, I recently checked them against the original census book (not the film) in the National Archives in Washington to verify this and found that they were actually left out of the transcription.
Upon notifing the author, she asked me to post the missing households to the Ghotes Homepage on her behalf. Pat also wants to express her regrets and appolgize for any inconvience that it has caused to those that bought and have used the book in tracing their ancestors and hopes this correction will be of help.
