This book starts where Stratton Nottingham left off in his Wills and Administrations of Accomack County, Virginia, 1663-1800. It ends with an administration recorded on 30 Jan 1860 and a will probated on 28 Jan 1861. It also contains a listing of the administrations contained in County Order Book, 1786-1787, which were omitted from Nottingham's book.

In addition to the wills and administrations, as contained in Nottingham's book, this compilation also contains brief abstracts of the estate inventories, sales, audits & settlements recorded in the higher court (District, Superior& Circuit Courts) wills, wills & deeds, and wills &c books for the period 1800-1860 and in the lower court (County Court) wills &c books for the period 1800 to 1828. During these respective periods these types of records were recorded in the will books, thus the title Wills &c.

The abstracts in this book were compiled from microfilm copies of 44 county, district and superior court ledger books containing about 23,000 pages of original materials. The administrations were taken from Administrations of Accomack County, Virginia, 1800-1860, with permission of the compiler, Nora Miller Turman. Mrs. Turman's work was taken from 23 Accomack County Order Books. 

Entries include last name, first name, place of residence, date written/date proved, probated or recorded. This is followed by the abstracted contents of the will. This is followed by Witt: (witnesses) and Prob: (information shown when the will was proved, recorded or probated, including changing executors to administrators, death of witnesses, securities on bond given by the executor(s) or administrator and the amount of bond in many instances). This is followed by the ledger book year, name
and page number where the original record can be found. The entries are listed alphabetically, and there is also a fullname index. To make the index more useful, page numbers are underlined to indicate people who died testate and intestate.
