CROWSON FamilyFirst Generation1. Robert1 Crowson (#281) was born in England, about 1665. He married an unknown person. Robert (Crowdson) Crowson -- bornabout 1665 in Englind. He was almost certainly the first Crowson ever to immigrate to America -- having sailed from Nottingham, England in 1690 and settled in the area now known as Accomack Counth, Virginia. Mr. Thomas Welburne was granted on March 18, 1690 2,450 acers of land in Accomack county, Va. as compensation for transporting 49 persons to the colony -- among whom was Robert Crowson.. (Accomack county order book 1690 - 1967, page 27). There is no record of Robert's wift -- so he probably married after coming to Virginia, but we don't know his wife's name. Robert and his wife had two children -- William, born in 1694 who married Comfort Littleton and Thomas, born 1696. Both sons were apprenticed at a very early age to local planters -- William was apprenticed to John Evins and Thomas to Sarah Coe, widow of Timothy Coe who was a Quaker. Both of Robert's sons (William and Thomas) were apprenticed in the year 1702 and we have no authentic records as to what became of Robert, but it is believed that he may have been in Bertie County, North Carolina in 1739. Robert Crowson had the following child: + 2 i. William2 Crowson was born 1694.
